Video Rotate & Crop

Draw a crop area directly on browser-playable video, rotate it, and preview the transformed frame locally.

The practical guide

Fix orientation and reframe video for landscape, square, portrait, or a custom crop.

Draw directly on a video frame, move the selection, resize it from touch-friendly handles, choose a quarter-turn rotation, and re-encode the complete transformed video on your device.

01

Select the crop area visually

Drag across the video frame to draw a new crop box. Move the box or resize it from any edge or corner handle; keyboard arrow controls and synchronized percentage fields provide accessible fine adjustment.

02

Rotate without guessing

Choose 90°, 180°, or 270° clockwise and inspect the rendered canvas preview before export. Quarter turns swap the output width and height automatically.

03

Crop for 16:9, 9:16, square, or 4:5

Centered aspect-ratio presets cover common widescreen, vertical video, square post, and portrait post shapes. Percentage fields allow a custom left edge, top edge, width, and height while validation keeps the crop inside the source frame.

04

Browser-native re-encoding

The browser draws every cropped and rotated frame to a canvas and records that canvas in real time. The actual output is WebM or MP4 according to the encoder the current browser exposes; this is not a lossless metadata-only rotation.

05

Audio and codec compatibility

Audio is retained only when the browser can expose the source audio track to MediaRecorder. Input support depends on whether the browser can decode the codecs inside the selected MP4, WebM, MOV, or other container.

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

How do I select the part of the video to keep?

Choose Draw a new crop area, drag across the frame, then move the selection or drag an edge or corner handle until the subject is framed correctly.

Can I rotate an MP4 video 90 degrees?

Yes when your browser can decode the codecs inside the MP4. The download container is whichever compatible WebM or MP4 encoder the browser actually exposes.

Can I crop video for TikTok, Reels, or Shorts?

Use the centered 9:16 preset, then move or resize the selection when the subject needs different framing. Platform requirements can change, so confirm current upload specifications separately.

Does cropping reduce video quality?

The output is re-encoded at the selected bitrate, so some generational quality loss is possible. Higher bitrate generally preserves more detail and produces a larger file.

Will the cropped video keep audio?

The tool keeps audio when the browser supports capturing the source audio track. It clearly warns when the export must be silent.

Why does export take as long as the video?

The browser plays and transforms every frame while MediaRecorder encodes the result, so processing is approximately real time.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The selected file, decoded frames, crop settings, audio track, and encoded result remain on your device.
